HIP & BACK PAIN

HOW TO PUT AN END TO BACK AND HIP PAIN AND STIFFNESS — WITHOUT TAKING PAINKILLERS, WITHOUT RISKING SURGERY AND WITHOUT EXPENSIVE CHIROPRACTIC BILLS

Book-cover-hip-back

If you have lower back pain, hip pain, stiffness, or aches, it’s very tempting to think that it will go away on its own. You might want to pass it off as having just “slept awkwardly,” or tell yourself it’s just a little pain that everyone your age suffers from.

There’s no obvious reason why it happened—but it doesn’t seem to be going away!

If that’s happening to you, you’re not alone: we hear this type of thing all the time. In fact, low back pain and sciatica — along with pain and stiffness in the hips —  are among the most common problems that we see at Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy Center!

And when it comes to living with back pain, everybody we see wants to know:

"WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME?"
OR
"WHY AM I STILL SUFFERING AFTER PUTTING UP WITH THIS FOR SIX MONTHS (OR MORE)?"

Most people hope that they’ll wake up one morning and “like magic,” it’ll be as if the back pain never happened. But it never works, and the longer these people wait, the worse their suffering becomes.

Sound Like You?

Another scenario we see all the time is people whose doctor tell them to rest, “try these painkillers,” and “see how it goes.” But this is rarely the best advice, and six weeks later, they end up going back to the doctor for more pills because it hasn’t got any better.

Has This Type Of Thing Happened To You?

Maybe you think your back pain was caused by doing something—like lifting or sleeping awkwardly—but it was ACTUALLY caused by decades of poor posture, which caused the muscles in your lower back to weaken. The lifting or the awkward sleeping position could be a SIDE EFFECT of that! Do you want your doctor treating the effects, or do you want to get to the root CAUSE of your problem so you can PREVENT it from happening again and again?

IF YOU'RE CURRENTLY LIVING WITH BACK OR HIP PAIN, HERE ARE EIGHT MORE REASONS WHY IT COULD BE LASTING LONGER THAN IT SHOULD:

  • Thought the pain would go away on its own — but it didn’t

If any of these have happened to you, we would love to invite you to schedule a complimentary phone consultation with one of our top-rate physical therapists, so we can help you. The fact that you’ve tried any or all of these things already, like many people we see, is actually a GOOD THING! When you know what doesn’t work, you are closer to finding the thing that does!

Click the link below to schedule a free phone consultation. The call is free, and there is no obligation to book any appointments with us after! Our goal is to help you make the right decision about what to do next.

"WHAT CAN I DO TO GET RID OF MY PAIN QUICKLY?"

Well, here are four things you can do:

  • First off, you need to make a decision about getting help. So many people procrastinate for so long, thinking that hip or back pain will "just go away with time," but then six months down the line they're still putting up with it!
  • Next, do the RIGHT exercises! One of the best things to help you ease your hip or back pain is to do the right series of progressed exercises—the right exercises given to you by a physical therapist will help reduce pain and allow you to move freely again, AND make sure that the problems don't come back!
  • Avoid sitting and long periods of rest! Ever tried to get up from the couch after resting for a while? Do you struggle because your hips or back feel so painful and tight? That's because one of the worst things you can do for hip or back pain is rest or sit for long periods of time. Too much rest makes your hope and back stiff and tight. It would really help if you were given appropriate strengthening exercises for better posture, alongside hands-on treatment, to get you active and healthy as quickly as possible.
  • Get real, "hands-on" physical therapy! Physical therapy, especially manual physical therapy, is proven to help people with hip and low-back pain. At Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy Center,  it's one of our specialties! If your hip or back pain is affecting your job, threatening your ability to keep active, destroying your independence, or getting in the way of spending quality time with family and friends, physical therapy can help get you back to the active life you deserve!

If you would like to know how the team at Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy Center can help you live with less back or hip pain, we invite you to start with a complimentary, no-obligation, risk-free appointment:

Note: This complimentary Discovery Session is something that we offer to people who are new to physical therapy, skeptical of its benefits, or unsure if it is right for them. If that sounds like you, then please start with a Discovery so that we can work with you to find out what is wrong and what can be done—without any financial risk on your part.

So the final question is…

ELLYN — patient

I’m 75 and enjoyed a healthy career as Manager for a hospital gift shop. Beyond running up and down the stairs at the hospital for 25 years (versus using elevators), I raised 3 children and was active helping with 7 grandchildren. I retired at 68 and enjoyed my daily 1 to 2 mile walks in the neighborhood. Three years ago, I started having lower back problems that were hampering my activities. Epidural shots  and frequent stops while traveling became necessary. X-rays and MRIs revealed that I had arthritis, and my back surgeon advised that there was nothing that he could do to correct the problem surgically. He recommended that I try pain management as the alternative. After a year of that approach, with little to no success, I followed a lead to go to Bob Seton. The results have been remarkable. I have my life back again. I can touch my ankles instead of my lower thigh. I can play golf without being crippled. I can dance without being stiff and sore, and I can get up and go!

REGINA — patient

I have had back problems for 13 years. I had been and avid runner until I experienced my first EVER problem in 2003. It was an ambulance ride to the local hospital where I was given a number of pain meds, shots and steroids then sent home. Since then there have been well over 20 trips or more to my Dr. and PT, and I even was scheduled for back surgery last year. The only reason I did not go through with the surgery was the uncertainty of the success. I AM SO GLAD I DID NOT GO THROUGH WITH SURGERY!!! Since I my time with Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy Center. I have felt and acted more like myself in years. The unique PT combined with the psychological, emotional and physical therapy has made such a complete change in my daily life. I am amazed every morning that I can get up and not hurt or question if I will be able to have a productive day. Everyone has seen the transformation in me. I feel as though my life has been given back to me, and that feels absolutely wonderful!

PATRICIA — patient

For 30 years, I’ve endured episodic neck and back spasms that made it impossible for me to work or be mobile without assistance for several days at a time, every 2 to 3 months. I’ve seen multiple doctors, was prescribed muscle (and brain) relaxers, tried painful cortisone shots, sought expensive neuromuscular massage treatments, bought several types of beds and pillows, and avoided any kind of strength or stretching exercise classes, as they triggered repeat pain and spasms. When I made an appointment at Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy Center, I expected assisted stretching that would be safe and effective in preventing the frequency of recurring pain. Instead, Bob told me that the source of my pain was my central nervous system, which was on high alert, due to a previous traumatic car accident. He worked with me for half an hour and in that short time, my pain reduced, my agility improved, and my skepticism evaporated.
